Biography

Nathan John Feuerstein, known professionally as NF, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter born on March 30, 1991, in Gladwin, Michigan. His early life was marked by hardship; his parents divorced, and he was raised by his mother until his father took him away due to abuse from his mother's boyfriend. In 2009, his mother died of an opioid overdose, an event he later detailed in his song "How Could You Leave Us". Music became an escape for Feuerstein, who started recording songs on a karaoke machine. He began his career in 2010 with the independent release of his debut album, "Moments," under his real name.

Career Breakthrough

In 2014, NF signed with Capitol Christian Music Group (CMG), releasing a self-titled EP that gained him initial recognition on the Billboard charts. His first studio album with a major label, "Mansion," was released in 2015, followed by "Therapy Session" in 2016, which won a GMA Dove Award. His mainstream breakthrough came in 2017 with his third album, "Perception," which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The album featured the hit single "Let You Down," which charted internationally and became a multi-platinum success.

Continued Success

NF's subsequent albums, "The Search" (2019) and "Hope" (2023), also achieved significant commercial success, with "The Search" debuting at number one and "Hope" at number two on the Billboard 200. He also released the mixtape "Clouds (The Mixtape)" in 2021, which peaked in the top five. His music is known for its raw emotion, introspective lyrics, and themes of mental health, trauma, and personal struggles. While he is a Christian, he does not categorize his music as Christian music, stating that he writes about his real-life struggles that are relatable to a wider audience.

Musical Style and Personal Life

NF's musical style is characterized by intense, fast-paced rapping and emotive vocal delivery, drawing comparisons to artists like Eminem, who was a major influence on him. He is known for his candid and vulnerable songwriting, often addressing his battles with mental health, including OCD and depression. In 2018, he married Bridgette Doremus, and they have two children together.
