Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal data

Who we are

SongSense.io is run by independent developer Pavel Volkov (volkv.com). Contact for data questions: . This policy describes what data the site actually collects. There are no user accounts and no registration.

What the site itself stores

  • Server logs. IP address, the requested page address (including the search on the Add a song page), browser and time of the request — for security and debugging. Application log files are deleted after 14 days.
  • Song votes. IP address, song, language version and time, so that one vote per address is counted.
  • Analysis ratings. Only the counter is stored; the IP address is kept in a temporary cache for up to 24 hours to prevent repeat ratings.
  • Comments. The name you enter, the text, IP address, language version and time. The name and text are public. The site owner receives a Telegram notification about each comment with the name, the beginning of the text, the page, the IP address and browser details.
  • Premium purchases. From Stripe we receive and store the email entered at checkout, the amount, the payment status and payment identifiers, plus the code itself and its usage history (songs, IP address, time). We do not receive card details.
  • Browser storage. localStorage keeps the name you typed in the comment form (songsense_author_name) to prefill it next time; during a premium purchase, sessionStorage temporarily keeps the selected song. This data stays in your browser.

Cookies

For normal browsing the site sets no cookies of its own. Only when you buy a premium analysis does it set two strictly necessary, encrypted cookies (HttpOnly, Secure), valid only on the payment confirmation page: premium_checkout_* (up to 24 hours, links the payment to your browser) and premium_reveal_* (1 hour, lets you see the purchased code again).

Third-party cookies are set by analytics and advertising services:

  • Google Analytics 4 — on all language versions;
  • Yandex Metrica — on the Russian version only;
  • Yandex Advertising Network — on the Russian and English versions;
  • Google AdSense — on the English version.

YouTube videos load only after you click the preview, and from the youtube-nocookie.com domain.

Advertising

Google AdSense. The English version may show ads served by Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. How Google uses data from partner sites: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings. For visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, where required, we request consent for advertising cookies via a Google-certified consent management platform.

Yandex Advertising Network. The Russian and English versions show ads from Yandex. Yandex may use cookies and device data to select ads; see the Yandex privacy policy.

Analytics

  • Google Analytics 4 collects pages viewed, traffic source, approximate location, device type and browser. See the Google privacy policy.
  • Yandex Metrica (Russian version only) runs with a click map and link tracking; session recording (Webvisor) is not enabled. See the Yandex privacy policy.

How to opt out

  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings — the site keeps working, except for premium purchases.
  • Turn off personalized Google ads in Ads Settings.
  • Use a tracker blocker or private browsing mode.

Who data is shared with

  • Stripe — payment processing;
  • Resend — sending the email with your premium code;
  • Telegram — notifications to the owner about comments, and error reports;
  • Google and Yandex — analytics and advertising, as described above;
  • Spotify and Genius — receive song titles and search terms, but not your personal data;
  • Anthropic (the Claude model, via the project's own gateway) — receives only song titles and analysis texts, no visitor data;
  • the hosting provider whose servers run the site.

We do not sell personal data.

Security

  • All connections use HTTPS.
  • Purchase cookies are encrypted and not accessible to page scripts.
  • Only the owner has access to the server and the database.

Retention

Application log files are deleted after 14 days. Votes, comments and purchase records are not deleted automatically: they are kept while the site operates or until you ask for deletion. Retention of analytics and advertising data is determined by Google and Yandex.

Your rights

You can request information about your data, its correction or deletion by emailing . Since there are no accounts, tell us how to find the data: the page and text of a comment, or the email used at checkout. If applicable law (for example, the GDPR or the CCPA) gives you additional rights, use the same address. We aim to reply within 30 days.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

A new version applies from publication; the update date is shown at the top of the page.
