He attended Lakeridge High School in Lake Oswego. After graduating, he moved to New York City to pursue music before settling in Los Angeles.
Career Beginnings
Yeat began his music career around 2015, initially using the name Lil Yeat, though most of his early work has since been deleted from the internet. He adopted his current moniker, Yeat, in 2018, releasing his first track under this name, "Brink," on the YouTube channel Elevator. He released his debut mixtape, "Deep Blue Strips," on September 20, 2018.
Rise to Prominence
Yeat's breakthrough came in mid-2021, largely due to his music going viral on the social media platform TikTok. His 2021 mixtape "4L" and his debut studio album "Up 2 Më" gained significant traction, with tracks like "Gët Busy" and "Monëy So Big" becoming immensely popular. The success of these projects led to a deal with Geffen Records and Interscope Records.
Musical Style
Yeat's musical style is characterized by its experimental and energetic nature. He is known for using Auto-Tune-infused vocals and so-called "rage beats," which are bass-heavy, synth-based electronic productions. His music often features a unique lingo with ad-libs and phrases like "twizzy" and "luh geeky," and frequent references to luxury SUVs as "Tonkas". He has cited artists like Young Thug, Future, and T-Pain as major influences on his sound.
