Biography
Tyrone William Griffin Jr., known professionally as Ty Dolla $ign, was born in Los Angeles, California, on April 13, 1982. Music was a part of his life from a young age, as his father, Tyrone Griffin Sr., was a member of the funk band Lakeside. This environment exposed him to artists like Earth, Wind & Fire and Prince, sparking his interest in soul music and leading him to learn multiple instruments, including bass guitar, drums, and keyboards.
Career Beginnings
Ty Dolla $ign's career started in the mid-2000s as part of the duo Ty & Kory. However, his first major recognition came in 2010 for co-writing and producing the hit single "Toot It and Boot It" for rapper YG. This success set the stage for his solo career.
