Biography
Timothy Jude Smith, known professionally as Timmy Trumpet, is an Australian musician, DJ, songwriter, and record producer. He was born in Sydney, Australia, on June 9, 1982. Smith began playing the trumpet at the age of four, taught by his father, and showed immense musical talent from a young age. At thirteen, he was named 'Young Musician of the Year' and was subsequently awarded a full scholarship to the Conservatorium of Music. There, he was tutored by a member of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Despite his classical training, he developed a strong interest in jazz and later, electronic dance music.
Career Beginnings
In the early 2000s, Smith adopted the stage name Timmy Trumpet and began to fuse his trumpet skills with DJing. He started his career by performing live trumpet solos alongside Australian DJ duo the Stafford Brothers in various nightclubs and festivals. He taught himself how to DJ and soon began performing solo, incorporating the trumpet into his electronic music sets, a move that would become his signature style. He initially released music on Australian labels such as OneLove, Central Station, and Ministry of Sound Australia.
Rise to International Fame
Timmy Trumpet's international breakthrough came with the 2014 release of "Freaks," a collaboration with New Zealand rapper Savage. The track became a multi-platinum seller, charting in numerous countries including Australia, New Zealand, France, and Belgium. "Freaks" is the highest-selling single of all time on Ministry of Sound Australia and has amassed over half a billion streams worldwide. This success propelled him onto the global stage, leading to performances at major music festivals like Tomorrowland, Creamfields, and Electric Daisy Carnival.

Timmy Trumpet is known for his high-energy performances that blend various electronic music genres, including electro house, big room, psytrance, and hardstyle. He is renowned for playing live trumpet solos over his DJ sets. His music often incorporates elements of jazz. Following the success of "Freaks," he has released a string of popular tracks. His 2017 single "Oracle" reached number one on Beatport. Another significant track, "Narco," a collaboration with Blasterjaxx, gained widespread popularity, partly due to its use as a walkout song in Major League Baseball. In 2020, he released his debut full-length album, "Mad World."

Throughout his career, Timmy Trumpet has collaborated with numerous acclaimed artists such as Hardwell, Armin van Buuren, R3HAB, and Gabry Ponte. In a unique project with the European Space Agency in 2019, he became the first trumpeter to perform in zero gravity. His performance at Tomorrowland in 2017 became the most-streamed DJ set from the festival on YouTube at the time.
