SUICIDAL-IDOL

Biography

SUICIDAL-IDOL, the primary project of American musician Alupe Tolentino, is a 20-year-old dance and electronic music artist based in Los Angeles. Musical Style

SUICIDAL-IDOL's music is primarily described as EDM, blending elements of lo-fi, rave, and scenecore. Their sound is influenced by the glitter and grunge of 2000s scene and emo music, reimagined with a modern, decadent edge. The music often explores themes of desire, relationships, and dark, unhealthy romantic longing with introspective lyrics.

Breakthrough with "ecstacy"

The debut single "ecstacy" was independently released in July 2021 and later re-released in February 2022. The track, co-written with producer Buhguul, features distorted drums, processed vocals, and trap-inspired hi-hats. In 2023, a slowed-down version of "ecstacy" went viral on TikTok, significantly boosting its popularity. The lyric "Sticking out your tongue for the picture" became a notable trend on the platform. This viral success propelled the song into the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart and to number 3 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50.
