Biography

Still Woozy is the stage name of American singer, songwriter, and producer Sven Eric Gamsky, born on June 23, 1992, in Oakland, California. He was raised in Moraga, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Gamsky began playing guitar in middle school and started recording his own music at the age of 13.

Early Career and Feed Me Jack

While in high school, Gamsky played guitar and bass for the band "Shoot for Roots". After graduating in 2010, he attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he majored in music with a focus on classical guitar and minored in electronic music. During his university years, he was a member of the math rock and indie rock band Feed Me Jack. The band released four albums before amicably disbanding in 2016 for the members to pursue individual careers.

Still Woozy Project

In 2017, Gamsky launched his solo project, Still Woozy. He chose the name due to his self-described spaced-out nature. His music is often described as a genre-bending mix of indie pop, bedroom pop, and psychedelic pop. He is known for self-producing his music, often in his garage or home studio. His sound is characterized by a blend of acoustic and electronic elements, laid-back vocals, and a DIY, lo-fi production style.

His breakthrough came with the release of singles like "Vacation" and "Cooks" in 2017, followed by the viral hit "Goodie Bag" the same year, which garnered millions of streams. His debut EP, "Lately," was released in 2019 and included the popular track "Habit". His music often explores themes of love, relationships, and introspection. Many of his songs are inspired by his relationship with his wife, Amiya Kahn-Tietz, who also creates the artwork for his releases.

Studio Albums

Still Woozy released his debut studio album, "If This Isn't Nice, I Don't Know What Is," on August 13, 2021. The album features singles such as "Window," "Rocky," "That's Life," and "Get Down". His second album, "Loveseat," was released on June 28, 2024.

Musical Style and Influences

Still Woozy's music is noted for its eclectic and genre-blending nature, incorporating elements of indie pop, R&B, funk, and electronic music. His sound is often described as dreamy, relaxed, and groovy. He has cited a wide range of influences, from classic rock and jazz to contemporary artists like Tame Impala and Frank Ocean. The internet and the house show scene in Santa Cruz were also significant influences on his musical development.
