Shane Michael Boose, known professionally as sombr, is an American singer, songwriter, and producer born on July 5, 2005, in New York City. Raised on the Lower East Side, he began his musical journey at a young age, influenced by his father's diverse musical taste. He attended LaGuardia High School as a vocal major, where he received classical training, but dropped out at 17 to pursue his music career full-time.
Career
Sombr started creating music in his bedroom and released his debut single, "Nothing Left to Say," in October 2021. His breakout moment came in June 2022 with the release of "Caroline," which went viral on TikTok and amassed millions of streams. This success led to a record deal with Warner Records. In September 2023, he released his debut EP, "In Another Life," which was co-produced by Tony Berg. The EP features tracks like "ivy," "weak," and "silhouette."
In 2025, his singles "Back to Friends" and "Undressed" gained significant viral traction on TikTok, leading to his first appearances on international charts, including the Billboard Hot 100.
