Biography
Stokeley Clevon Goulbourne (born April 18, 1996), professionally known as Ski Mask The Slump God, is an American rapper from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is of Jamaican descent and grew up listening to a variety of artists including Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, and Wu-Tang Clan. His father, a rapper known as "Sin City," encouraged him to write his own rap music.
Career Beginnings
In 2013, Goulbourne was sent to a juvenile detention center where he met XXXTentacion. After their release, they formed the hip-hop collective Members Only in 2014. Goulbourne then started uploading music to SoundCloud, gaining traction with songs like "Catch Me Outside" and "BabyWipe". His early mixtapes, including "Drown in Designer" and "You Will Regret," further solidified his presence in the burgeoning SoundCloud rap scene. His musical style is characterized by a fast, playful flow and a cartoonish, slightly morbid persona.
Members Only
What started as a duo with XXXTentacion, Members Only expanded to include numerous other artists. The collective released several projects, including "Members Only, Vol. 1," "Members Only, Vol. 2," and "Members Only, Vol. 3," which showcased their aggressive and experimental sound.
Rise to Prominence
Ski Mask signed with Republic Records and released his commercial mixtape "You Will Regret" in 2017, which charted on the Billboard 200. His 2018 mixtape, "Beware the Book of Eli," peaked at number 50 on the Billboard 200. He achieved further mainstream success with his debut studio album, "Stokeley" (2018), which peaked at number six on the Billboard 200. The album featured popular tracks like "Faucet Failure" and "Nuketown" featuring Juice Wrld.
Recent Work
Following the success of "Stokeley," Ski Mask released the mixtape "Sin City The Mixtape" in 2021. His second studio album, "11th Dimension," was released in 2024. He continues to be known for his unique, fast-paced rapping style and pop culture-infused lyrics.
