Silk City

Biography

Silk City is a British-American supergroup duo composed of electronic music producers Mark Ronson and Diplo. The project was announced on January 2, 2018. Their music is a tribute to disco and house music styles from cities like Chicago, Detroit, London, and Paris. The name "Silk City" is a tribute to the Philadelphia diner and club where Diplo first started DJing.

Career

Silk City released their debut single, "Only Can Get Better" featuring Daniel Merriweather, on May 25, 2018. They followed up with "Feel About You" featuring Mapei and "Loud" with GoldLink and Desiigner. Their fourth single, "Electricity," a collaboration with singer Dua Lipa, was released on September 6, 2018. The song became a commercial success, reaching number four in the UK and topping the US dance charts. In 2019, "Electricity" won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording. The duo released an EP titled "Electricity" on April 13, 2019. On January 22, 2021, they released the single "New Love" featuring Ellie Goulding.

Collaborations

Throughout their career, Silk City has collaborated with a variety of artists. Their most notable collaboration is "Electricity" with Dua Lipa. They have also worked with Daniel Merriweather, Mapei, GoldLink, Desiigner, and Ellie Goulding on jejich singles.
