Biography

Dardan Aliu, known professionally as Regard, is a Kosovan DJ and record producer born on July 23, 1993, in Ferizaj. He began his music career in 2008, initially focusing on the dance scene in the Balkans before transitioning to Deep House. His artist name was inspired by the French word "regarde," which means "look."

Career Breakthrough

Regard gained international recognition in 2019 with his house remix of Jay Sean's 2008 song "Ride It". The track became a viral sensation on the social media platform TikTok, where it was featured in the #rideitchallenge. This viral success led to a record deal with Ministry of Sound in July 2019. The single achieved significant commercial success, reaching number one in Ireland and number two on the UK Singles Chart. The unexpected hit amassed over 150 million combined streams shortly after its rise to fame.

Subsequent Releases and Collaborations

Following the success of "Ride It," Regard released the single "Secrets" featuring British singer-songwriter Raye on April 23, 2020. This track also performed well, peaking in the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart. He has since collaborated with a variety of notable artists, including Troye Sivan, Tate McRae, Ella Henderson, and Years & Years. Some of his other releases include "You" with Troye Sivan and Tate McRae, and "Hallucination" with Olly Alexander of Years & Years.

Regard is known for his deep house, dance-pop, and electronic music. His sound is often described as having a groovy and funky vibe. He has also created remixes for artists such as Dua Lipa.
