Pitbull
Biography
Armando Christian Pérez, known professionally as Pitbull, was born on January 15, 1981, in Miami, Florida, to Cuban immigrant parents. Growing up, he was encouraged by his family to embrace his Cuban heritage and was able to recite the works of Cuban national hero and poet José Martí at a young age. After his parents separated, he lived with his mother and also spent some time in a foster home in Georgia. He chose the stage name Pitbull because the dog breed is known for its tenacity. After graduating from Miami Coral Park High School, he began to seriously pursue a career in rap music.
