Biography

Pierce the Veil is an American rock band from San Diego, California, formed in 2006. The group was founded by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes after their previous band, Before Today, disbanded. The current lineup consists of Vic Fuentes (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Tony Perry (lead guitar), and Jaime Preciado (bass, backing vocals).

Formation and Early Years

After the breakup of Before Today, brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes continued to write music together and recorded a full-length album, "A Flair for the Dramatic," which was released in 2007 under the new band name, Pierce the Veil. The name was derived from a song on Before Today's album, "A Celebration of an Ending." Soon after, Tony Perry and Jaime Preciado joined the band, completing the lineup.

Musical Style

Pierce the Veil's music is generally categorized as post-hardcore, but it also incorporates elements of pop-punk, experimental rock, emo, and progressive rock. Their sound is known for its blend of heavy instrumentation with catchy melodies and the unique vocal style of Vic Fuentes. A term often associated with the band is "mexicore," which refers to the Spanish and Latin influences in some of their songs.
