Paulo Londra
Biography
Paulo Ezequiel Londra, born on April 12, 1998, in Córdoba, Argentina, is a rapper and singer who has become a prominent figure in the Latin music scene. His interest in hip-hop was sparked by the movie 8 Mile, starring Eminem, which inspired him to start competing in local freestyle rap battles at the age of 14. These competitions, including the renowned El Quinto Escalón, helped him hone his skills and gain a following on social media.
Career Beginnings and Rise to Fame
Londra's professional career took off in 2017 with the release of his first single, "Relax," which quickly gained millions of views on YouTube. He distinguished himself by avoiding common themes of violence and drugs in his lyrics, focusing instead on more relatable and positive messages. His popularity soared with hit singles like "Nena Maldición" featuring Lenny Tavárez, "Te Amo" with Piso 21, and "Cuando Te Besé" with Becky G. The latter became the first song to top the Billboard Argentina Hot 100 chart.
Debut Album and International Collaborations
In 2019, Londra released his debut album, Homerun, which surpassed one billion streams in its first month. The album included the hit single "Adán y Eva," which topped charts in multiple countries. That same year, he collaborated with international superstar Ed Sheeran on the track "Nothing on You," which also featured British rapper Dave, from Sheeran's No.6 Collaborations Project album. He also worked with American rapper A Boogie wit da Hoodie on the song "Party."
Legal Dispute and Musical Hiatus
In 2020, a significant legal conflict with his record label, Big Ligas, and his producers, Ovy On The Drums and Kristo, forced Londra into a musical hiatus that lasted nearly two years. The dispute stemmed from a contract he signed at the beginning of his career, which he claimed was deceptive and restrictive. The hashtag #FreePaulo trended on social media as fans and fellow artists showed their support.
Return to Music
After a legal battle, Londra made his highly anticipated return to music in March 2022 with the single "Plan A." The song was an immediate success, reaching the number two spot on Spotify's global chart. He followed this with his second album, Back to the Game, which showcased his musical growth and versatility, exploring styles like pop-rock in songs such as "Nublado." He also renewed his collaboration with Ed Sheeran on the track "Noche de Novela." His return was further solidified with a Bizarrap music session, "Paulo Londra: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 23," which debuted at number one on the Billboard Argentina Hot 100.
