Biography

Mr. President is a German Eurodance group from Bremen, best known for their 1996 hit "Coco Jamboo". The band was formed in 1991 by producers Jens Neumann and Kai Matthiesen. The original lineup, then known as Satellite One, included singer Daniela Haak (Lady Danii), rapper George Jones (Sir Prophet), and singer Judith Hildebrandt (T-Seven). In 1994, Delroy Rennalls (LayZee Dee) replaced Jones as the rapper.

Career Breakthrough

The group's first major success came with the single "Up'n Away" from their debut album of the same name, released in 1995. However, it was their second album, "We See the Same Sun" (1996), that brought them international fame. The lead single from this album, "Coco Jamboo," became a worldwide hit, reaching number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and charting high in numerous European countries. The song's reggae-fusion sound was a departure from their earlier dance tracks. Other successful singles from the group include "I Give You My Heart", "4 on the Floor", and "Jojo Action".

Lineup Changes and Later Years

In 2000, Judith Hildebrandt (T-Seven) left the group to pursue a solo career. She was briefly replaced by Nadia Ayche, and then by Myra Beckmann. In 2003, Franziska Frank (Franzi) joined the lineup. The group released the album "Forever & One Day" in 2003. After several more singles and a period of declining popularity, Mr. President officially disbanded in 2008.

Post-Band Activities

Since the group's dissolution, Delroy Rennalls (LayZee) has continued to tour as "LayZee formerly of Mr. President," performing the band's hits. He has also released solo material. In 2014, he was joined by singer Erika Kovács for his live performances.
