Molly Ama Montgomery (born October 4, 2001), known professionally as Moliy, is a Ghanaian-American singer and songwriter. She was born and raised in Accra, Ghana, and later moved to Florida in the United States. Her upbringing in both locations influenced her musical style, which blends Afrobeats, R&B, soul, dancehall, and highlife.

Career

Moliy began her music career in 2020 with the release of her debut EP, "Wondergirl". The project gained airplay in several African countries, including The Gambia, Nigeria, and Kenya. She gained international recognition in 2021 after being featured on the song "Sad Girlz Luv Money" by fellow Ghanaian artist Amaarae. A remix featuring American singer Kali Uchis propelled the track to global success, charting on the US Billboard Hot 100 and in the UK.

Breakthrough Success

In 2024, Moliy released the single "Shake It to the Max (Fly)" with Jamaican-born producer Silent Addy. The song became a viral sensation on TikTok, leading to significant chart success in the United Kingdom, where it reached number one on the UK Afrobeats Singles Chart. This further solidified her position as a rising star in the global music scene.
