Biography
Lalisa Manobal, known by her stage name Lisa, is a Thai rapper, singer, and dancer based in South Korea. She was born Pranpriya Manobal on March 27, 1997, in Buriram Province, Thailand. She later changed her name to Lalisa, meaning "the one being praised," on the advice of a fortune teller. Lisa is an only child and was raised by her Thai mother and Swiss stepfather. Her interest in K-pop and dance started at a young age; she began taking dance lessons at four years old and was part of a dance crew called "We Zaa Cool" which also included BamBam of GOT7.
Career Beginnings and BLACKPINK
In 2010, at the age of 13, Lisa auditioned for the South Korean entertainment company YG Entertainment in Thailand. She was the sole individual selected out of 4,000 applicants. In 2011, she moved to South Korea to begin her formal training, which lasted for five years. Lisa debuted as a member of the girl group BLACKPINK on August 8, 2016. She is the main dancer and lead rapper of the group. BLACKPINK quickly rose to fame with their debut single album "Square One," which featured the hit songs "Whistle" and "Boombayah".
Solo Career and Global Recognition
Lisa made her solo debut on September 10, 2021, with the single album "Lalisa". The music video for the title track of the same name became the most-viewed music video by a solo artist in the first 24 hours on YouTube. Both "Lalisa" and the B-side track "Money" were commercially successful, with "Money" becoming the first song by a female K-pop solo artist to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify. In early 2024, Lisa established her own artist management company, Lloud. She subsequently signed with RCA Records to release her solo music. Her first single under this new arrangement, "Rockstar," was released in June 2024 and was followed by her debut studio album "Alter Ego" in February 2025. The album features collaborations with artists like Rosalía and Doja Cat.

Beyond her music career, Lisa has made a significant impact in the fashion and beauty industries. She has served as a global brand ambassador for luxury brands such as Celine and Bvlgari. In 2020, MAC Cosmetics named her their global ambassador, a first for a female K-pop idol. She has also endorsed brands like Adidas, Prada, and Chivas Regal. In 2025, Lisa made her acting debut in the third season of the HBO series "The White Lotus". She is recognized for her powerful stage presence and is the most-followed K-pop artist on Instagram, highlighting her global influence.
