Lalisa Manobal, known by her stage name Lisa, is a Thai rapper, singer, and dancer based in South Korea. She was born Pranpriya Manobal on March 27, 1997, in Buriram Province, Thailand. She later changed her name to Lalisa, meaning "the one being praised," on the advice of a fortune teller. Lisa is an only child and was raised by her Thai mother and Swiss stepfather. Her interest in K-pop and dance started at a young age; she began taking dance lessons at four years old and was part of a dance crew called "We Zaa Cool" which also included BamBam of GOT7.

In 2010, at the age of 13, Lisa auditioned for the South Korean entertainment company YG Entertainment in Thailand. She was the sole individual selected out of 4,000 applicants. In 2011, she moved to South Korea to begin her formal training, which lasted for five years. Lisa debuted as a member of the girl group BLACKPINK on August 8, 2016. She is the main dancer and lead rapper of the group. BLACKPINK quickly rose to fame with their debut single album "Square One," which featured the hit songs "Whistle" and "Boombayah".
