Biography

Lathan Moses Stanley Echols, known professionally as Lil Mosey, was born on January 25, 2002, in Seattle, Washington. He was raised by his mother in the northern part of the city. Inspired by artists like Meek Mill, he began rapping in his early teens and started his music career in the eighth grade. After the success of his song "Pull Up," he dropped out of high school to pursue his music career full-time, relocating to Los Angeles.

Career Beginnings and Rise to Fame

Lil Mosey began his career by uploading songs to SoundCloud, with early tracks like "So Bad" and "Supreme Hoodies" gaining traction. His commercial debut single, "Pull Up," was released in late 2017 and quickly became a viral hit, leading to him signing with Interscope Records. In 2018, he released the single "Noticed," which became his first song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. This success was followed by his debut studio album, "Northsbest," released in October 2018. The album included his previously released hit singles.

'Certified Hitmaker' and Mainstream Success

Lil Mosey's second album, "Certified Hitmaker," was released in November 2019 and peaked at number 12 on the Billboard 200. The album featured collaborations with artists like Gunna and Chris Brown. A 2020 re-release of the album included his most successful single to date, "Blueberry Faygo," which climbed to number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song's popularity was fueled by its viral spread on social media platforms. Following this success, he collaborated with several other artists, including Lil Baby and Trippie Redd.

Recent Years and Musical Style

In 2020, Lil Mosey launched his own record label, Certified Hitmakers. Musically, he is known for a melodic, singsong rap style with lyrics that often reflect his personal experiences. Despite hailing from the Pacific Northwest, his style is often compared to the Atlanta trap scene. In recent years, he has continued to release new music, including the extended play "Love U Forever" in 2024.

Legal Issues

In 2021, Lil Mosey was charged with second-degree rape. After a trial in March 2023, he was found not guilty of the charges. This legal battle had a significant impact on his career, causing a temporary hiatus.
