Lacey

Biography

Lacey is a four-piece alternative rock band hailing from Nottingham, England. The band consists of Graham 'Graz' Turner on vocals and bass, Josh Lewin and Pete Maksymiw on guitars, and David Pearson on drums. The members have a long history together, having grown up in the same area, which contributes to their close-knit dynamic.

Musical Style and Influences

The band's sound is characterized by anthemic alternative rock with compelling melodies and driven hooks. Their music often chronicles life's highs and lows with an undercurrent of optimism and hope. Among their key influences are prominent alternative rock and emo bands such as Taking Back Sunday, Kids In Glass Houses, and Jimmy Eat World.

Career and Discography

The band has been active since the early 2010s, releasing several EPs before their debut album. They gained significant exposure by touring with acts like People on Vacation, Patent Pending, and The Blackout. Lacey has also performed at the Hit the Deck Festival and was a finalist in the Red Bull Studios Download Festival competition.

Studio Albums

Lacey released their debut album, "Under The Brightest Lights," in April 2015. This was followed by their sophomore album, "I Don't Owe the World a Thing," in 2018. Their third full-length album, "This Is All We Are," was announced for a 2023 release.

Notable Tracks and Recognition

The track "Tonight" from their debut album is particularly poignant for the band, as it was written about the moment they decided to fully commit to their musical careers. They won a competition with Drop Dead Clothing which funded the recording of the song and an accompanying music video. In late 2014, they were selected to open for James Blunt at his Nottingham arena show, a significant opportunity for the local band.
