Biography

Kane Allen Brown (born October 21, 1993) is an American singer and songwriter who has become a prominent figure in country music. He initially gained a large following on social media by posting cover videos. His musical style is known for blending country with pop and R&B influences. Raised in rural northwest Georgia and the Chattanooga, Tennessee, area, Brown is of multiracial heritage, with a white mother and an African-American and Cherokee father. His early life was marked by challenges, including periods of homelessness and abuse.

Career Breakthrough

In 2014, Brown began posting cover songs online, with his version of George Strait's "Check Yes or No" going viral. He used crowdfunding to release his first EP, "Closer," in 2015, which charted on the Billboard Top Country Albums. This success led to a record deal with RCA Nashville in early 2016. His debut self-titled album was released in December 2016 and included the hit singles "What Ifs," featuring Lauren Alaina, and "Heaven." In October 2017, Brown made history by becoming the first artist to have simultaneous number ones on all five main Billboard country charts. His second album, "Experiment," released in 2018, became his first number one album on the Billboard 200 chart.

Continued Success

Brown's career has continued to ascend with subsequent releases like "Mixtape, Vol. 1" (2020) and "Different Man" (2022). He has collaborated with a variety of artists across different genres, including Marshmello, Khalid, and John Legend. Brown has received numerous awards, including an ACM Award for Video of the Year for "Worldwide Beautiful" in 2021, making him the first Black artist to win the award. He was also named one of Time's 100 most influential people in the world in 2021. His philanthropic work, particularly with the Boys & Girls Club, has been recognized with the 2024 CRS Artist Humanitarian Award.

Personal Life

Kane Brown is married to Katelyn Jae, a fellow singer. They got engaged in 2017 and married in October 2018. The couple has three children: two daughters, born in October 2019 and December 2021, and a son, born in June 2024. Katelyn is also a musician and has a degree in the music business. She was featured on his hit duet "Thank God."
