Biography

Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax, known professionally as Jacquees, was born on April 15, 1994, in Decatur, Georgia. He discovered his passion for music and singing at the age of 9, influenced by television biopics about The Jacksons and The Temptations. He participated in his first talent show in the fifth grade, winning with a performance of the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back".

Career Beginnings

In 2007, Jacquees met his first manager, Corey Battle, and later began working with his uncle, Russell "Block" Spencer, the founder of Block Entertainment. This connection allowed him to gain exposure in the music industry, leading to a collaboration with rapper T.I. on the track "Krazy". He independently released his first EP, "I Am Jacquees," in 2011, followed by the mixtape "Round of Applause" the same year. His 2014 EP, "19," which featured artists like Chris Brown and Rich Homie Quan, debuted at number 15 on the U.S. Billboard Top R&B Albums chart.

Major Label Success

Jacquees signed a recording contract with Cash Money Records in October 2014. His 2016 single, "B.E.D.", became a significant hit, peaking at number 69 on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieving double platinum certification from the RIAA. This song was a lead single for his debut studio album, "4275," which was released on June 15, 2018. The album, named after the address where he grew up, featured collaborations with Chris Brown, Trey Songz, and Young Thug. It was certified Gold by the RIAA.

His second studio album, "King of R&B," was released in November 2019 and debuted at number 20 on the Billboard 200. This was followed by "Sincerely For You" in 2022, executive produced by Future, and "Baby Making" in 2024. Throughout his career, he has released numerous mixtapes, including the popular "Quemix" series, and has collaborated with a wide range of artists such as DeJ Loaf, Birdman, and Future.
