Biography
Keidran Kenmore Jones, born April 15, 1987, is a singer, songwriter, and dancer from the British Virgin Islands professionally known as Iyaz. He grew up in a musical family in Tortola. Iyaz studied digital recording at the New England Institute of Technology. His career began after being discovered by singer Sean Kingston through his MySpace page in 2008. Kingston signed him to his Time Is Money record label.
Career Breakthrough
Iyaz's debut single "Replay," released in 2009, became a massive international hit. It peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached number one in several other countries, including the United Kingdom. The song's success was followed by another hit, "Solo," which was released in February 2010 and secured a spot in the top 40 of the Hot 100. His debut album, also titled "Replay," was released in 2010. That same year, he participated in the charity single "We Are the World 25 for Haiti."
Collaborations and Further Releases
Throughout his career, Iyaz has collaborated with a variety of artists. He was featured on Jake Zyrus's single "Pyramid" and worked with Miley Cyrus on the song "Gonna Get This" for the "Hannah Montana Forever" soundtrack. Other collaborations include "If I Ruled the World" with Big Time Rush, "Break My Bank" with New Boyz, and "My Girl" with Akon. In 2015, his second album, "Aurora," was released exclusively in Japan, preceded by the single "One Million."
Later Career
Iyaz has continued to release music in recent years. Between 2017 and 2020, he released several singles and EPs. He remains an active performer, with live shows across the US and Europe. In 2024, he was scheduled to perform at the Lovers & Friends music festival alongside major artists like Usher and Janet Jackson.
