IVE

Biography

IVE is a South Korean girl group formed by Starship Entertainment. The group is composed of six members: Gaeul, Yujin, Rei, Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo. They officially debuted on December 1, 2021, with the single album "Eleven". The name "IVE" is a contraction of "I have," representing the group's desire to confidently show the audience what they have to offer as a complete girl group from the very beginning.

Pre-Debut and Formation

Before their debut as IVE, members Yujin and Wonyoung were already well-known figures in the K-pop industry. They both participated in the Mnet survival show "Produce 48" in 2018, where they finished in 5th and 1st place, respectively, earning them a spot in the project girl group IZ*ONE. They promoted with IZ*ONE until the group's disbandment in April 2021. The announcement of their inclusion in Starship Entertainment's new girl group generated significant anticipation. The remaining members—Gaeul, Rei, Liz, and Leeseo—were introduced to the public between November 3 and 8, 2021.

Debut and Breakthrough Success

IVE debuted on December 1, 2021, with their first single album, "Eleven". The song was an immediate commercial success, and just seven days after their debut, on December 8, they achieved their first music show win on MBC M's "Show Champion," making them the fastest girl group to win first place since their debut. The debut single album was certified 2x platinum.

The group's success continued with the release of their second single album, "Love Dive," in April 2022. The title track became their first number-one song on South Korea's Circle Digital Chart and was named Song of the Year at major award shows, including the Golden Disc Awards, MAMA Awards, and Melon Music Awards. Their third single album, "After Like," released in August 2022, also topped the charts and sold over a million copies.

First Studio Album and Continued Growth

On April 10, 2023, IVE released their first full-length studio album, "I've Ive," which was a commercial success. The album featured two chart-topping singles, "Kitsch" and "I Am," with "Kitsch" achieving a "Perfect all-kill" on Korean music charts. The album itself sold over a million copies and won Album of the Year at the Melon Music Awards. In the same year, they also embarked on their first solo tour, "The Prom Queens." Their first Korean EP, "I've Mine," was released in October 2023 and also surpassed one million in sales, featuring the number-one single "Baddie".
