Biography

ITZY is a South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. The group consists of five members: Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna. They officially debuted on February 12, 2019, with the release of their single album, "It'z Different", and its lead single "Dalla Dalla". The song was a commercial success, peaking at number two on the Circle Digital Chart and the Billboard K-pop Hot 100. The music video for "Dalla Dalla" achieved the highest number of views in 24 hours for a K-pop group's debut video at the time.

The group is composed of five members:

Pre-debut Activities

Prior to their debut with ITZY, the members had various experiences in the entertainment industry. Chaeryeong and her sister auditioned for Fantagio in 2012 and later participated in JYP's survival show "Sixteen" in 2015. Ryujin was scouted at a GOT7 concert and trained for four years. Yuna and Yeji joined JYP in 2015, with Yuna being discovered by company staff and Yeji successfully passing an audition. All members except Lia appeared on the 2017 reality show "Stray Kids" as a project group. Ryujin also competed in the survival show "MIXNINE" from 2017 to 2018.

Career

2019: Debut and "Rookie Grand Slam"

ITZY debuted on February 12, 2019, with the single album "It'z Different" featuring the title track "Dalla Dalla". The song's empowering lyrics and energetic performance were well-received. In July of the same year, they released their first EP, "It'z Icy", with the lead single "Icy". Their successful debut year led them to achieve a "Rookie Grand Slam," winning Rookie of the Year at all five major Korean music award shows.

2020–2021: Continued Success and First Studio Album

In March 2020, ITZY released their second EP, "It'z Me", with the lead single "Wannabe". The EP debuted at number one on South Korea's Gaon Album Chart. They continued their momentum with the EP "Not Shy" in August 2020 and "Guess Who" in April 2021. On September 24, 2021, the group released their first full-length album, "Crazy in Love", featuring the lead single "Loco". The album debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200 chart.

2022–Present: World Tours and Recent Releases

ITZY embarked on their first world tour, the "Checkmate World Tour," in 2022, following the release of their fifth EP "Checkmate" in July. The EP's lead single, "Sneakers," was a commercial success in South Korea. The group has since released several more successful EPs, including "Cheshire" (2022), "Kill My Doubt" (2023), and "Born to Be" (2024). In October 2024, they released their ninth EP, "Gold". Their tenth EP, "Girls Will Be Girls," was released in June 2025. Member Lia, who had been on hiatus due to health reasons since September 2023, resumed activities with the group for their "Gold" EP.
