Biography

Gabriele "Gabry" Ponte, born in Turin, Italy, on April 20, 1973, is a world-renowned DJ, music producer, and former member of the popular Eurodance group Eiffel 65. He began his career as a DJ in Turin at the age of 17 and officially launched his producer career in 1993 when he joined Bliss Corporation.

Eiffel 65

In 1998, Ponte, along with Maurizio Lobina and Jeffrey Jey, formed Eiffel 65. The group's debut single, "Blue (Da Ba Dee)," became a global sensation, topping charts in over 18 countries and selling more than 8 million copies worldwide. The accompanying album, "Europop," sold over 4 million copies. In 2000, Eiffel 65 won the European Music Award for "Best Italian Artist in the World." Ponte's contributions to "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" also earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording in 2001. The group released another successful single, "Move Your Body," and a third album, "Eiffel 65," before disbanding in 2005, though they reunited in 2010.

Solo Career

While still with Eiffel 65, Gabry Ponte began his solo career, releasing his first album, "Gabry Ponte," in 2002. His early singles, including "Time to Rock" and a cover of Fabrizio De André's "Geordie," were very successful in Italy. He followed up with his second album, "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. DJ," in 2004. In 2005, Ponte left Eiffel 65 to focus on his solo work and founded his own record label, Dance and Love, in 2006. His 2012 single "Beat on My Drum," featuring Pitbull and Sophia del Carmen, was an international hit. In 2014, he entered DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs chart at number 61.

Recent Years and Collaborations

Ponte has continued to release successful tracks and collaborate with numerous artists. His 2019 collaboration with LUM!X, "Monster," and their 2021 track "Thunder" were major European hits. He has also worked with artists such as Aloe Blacc, R3HAB, Timmy Trumpet, and David Guetta. Ponte co-wrote and produced Austria's entry for the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, "Halo," performed by LUM!X and Pia Maria. He later represented San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with his song "Tutta l'Italia."
