Dexter Tiewon Gore Jr., known professionally as Famous Dex, is an American rapper born on September 6, 1993, in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in the city's Englewood neighborhood on the South Side. His decision to pursue a music career was significantly influenced by the death of his mother from breast cancer in September 2014. To commemorate her, he later tattooed a pink ribbon on his face.

Career Beginnings and Rise to Fame

In 2015, Famous Dex began to gain traction in the underground hip-hop scene with the release of his debut mixtape, "Never Seen It Coming," followed by "Dexter's Laboratory". His energetic style and catchy hooks quickly garnered attention. The following year, he released two more mixtapes, "Drippy" and "#OhhMannGoddDamn". A pivotal moment in his career came in March 2016 when he signed with Rich the Kid's label, Rich Forever Music. This partnership led to the release of the collaborative "Rich Forever" mixtape series.

Famous Dex's breakthrough into the mainstream came with his 2017 single "Pick It Up," featuring A$AP Rocky, which peaked at number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100. Both tracks were featured on his debut studio album, "Dex Meets Dexter," released on April 6, 2018. The album itself performed well, reaching number 12 on the Billboard 200 chart.
