Biography

Idris Ennolandy Vicuña, known professionally as Eyedress, is a Filipino musician, songwriter, and producer born on May 28, 1990, in Makati, Philippines. He is currently based in Los Angeles. His family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona when he was young, where he was introduced to punk music. At age 13, his family moved to California, where he joined a crust punk band called Liberal Underground as a bassist. He moved back to the Philippines with his family at the age of 15. Before his music career, he briefly designed clothing and began composing music on his laptop at age 20, releasing his beats for free online.

Career Beginnings in Manila

After building a small online following, Eyedress collaborated with Filipino singer Skint Eastwood on the track "Biolumine". This collaboration garnered attention from a French label, leading to a record deal with Abeano Records, a subsidiary of XL Recordings. He released his debut EP, Supernatural, on December 2, 2013, which he recorded in his bedroom. This was followed by his debut mixtape, Hearing Colors, in 2014. After leaving XL Recordings, he released the mixtape Shapeshifter in 2015. In 2016, he signed with Lex Records and released his debut studio album, Manila Ice, the following year. He released his second album, Sensitive G, in November 2018.

Breakthrough in Los Angeles

Eyedress relocated to Los Angeles from Manila and began working on new music. In late 2019 and early 2020, he released singles from his third album, Let's Skip to the Wedding, including "Jealous" and "Romantic Lover," which went viral on TikTok. "Jealous" was certified platinum in the U.S. in March 2022, and "Romantic Lover" was certified gold in the U.S. in April 2022. The album was released on August 7, 2020.

Recent Work

His fourth studio album, Mulholland Drive, was released in 2021 and features collaborations with artists like King Krule and DāM-FunK. In 2022, he released Full Time Lover, a 28-track project spanning hip-hop, post-punk, and shoegaze. He has also collaborated with artist Zzzahara under the name The Simps, releasing the album Siblings in 2022. More recent albums include Vampire in Beverly Hills (2024) and Stoner (2025).

Musical Style

Eyedress's music is known for its genre-blending sound, incorporating elements of post-punk, shoegaze, bedroom pop, hip-hop, and electronic music. His work often features a DIY aesthetic, with many of his early tracks being recorded in his bedroom. He is a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, bass, synthesizers, and drums.
