Biography

Dimitri Thivaios, known professionally as Dimitri Vegas, is a Belgian DJ, record producer, and actor of Greek origin, born on May 16, 1982. He is best known as one half of the electronic music duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, alongside his younger brother, Michael Thivaios (Like Mike). The brothers began their DJ careers at a young age, playing in small clubs and hosting a radio show on BeatFM. In 1999, Dimitri left Belgium to tour Europe, eventually settling in Ibiza in 2003 with his brother, where they held residencies at major clubs like Privilege and Space.

Career Breakthrough

The duo's breakthrough came after their remix of "Work That Body" in 2008 caught the attention of Axwell, who commissioned them for a remix on his Axtone label. In 2010, they founded their own record label, Smash the House, and were asked to write the official anthem for Tomorrowland, "Tomorrow (Give in to the Night)". This marked the beginning of a long-standing relationship with the festival, for which they would create anthems for several years, solidifying their title as the 'Kings of Tomorrowland'. Their 2013 anthem, "Chattahoochee," peaked at number two in the Belgian charts. The 2014 collaboration with Martin Garrix, "Tremor," became a worldwide hit.

Rise to Global Stardom

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike achieved global recognition with their energetic live performances and a string of successful releases. They have headlined major festivals worldwide, including EDC Las Vegas, EXIT Festival, Creamfields, and UNTOLD Festival. The duo topped DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs poll in 2015 and again in 2019, and have consistently ranked in the top five. Their track "The Hum" with Ummet Ozcan and "Higher Place" featuring Ne-Yo both reached number one in Belgium in 2015. In 2019, their collaboration "Instagram" with David Guetta, Daddy Yankee, Afro Bros, and Natti Natasha achieved double platinum status.
