Biography

Nir Tibor, known professionally as Dennis Lloyd, is an Israeli musician, producer, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist born in Tel Aviv on June 18, 1993. He learned to play the trumpet at the age of eight and taught himself the guitar at thirteen. Lloyd attended the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts in Givatayim.

Career Beginnings

Lloyd released his first single, "Playa (Say That)," in mid-2015. Towards the end of that year, he relocated to Bangkok, Thailand, for a year to focus solely on his music, writing approximately 35 songs during this period. After returning to Israel, he released more music, including the song that would become his international breakthrough.

Breakthrough with "Nevermind"

In 2016, Lloyd released the single "Nevermind". A remixed version of the song quickly gained traction on Spotify, eventually amassing over a billion streams. The song's success led to international recognition, charting in numerous countries and achieving platinum status in several, including Italy, Canada, and Germany. The global hit was also featured as one of the "songs of summer" by Time magazine in June 2018.

Musical Style and Later Work

Dennis Lloyd's music is characterized by a blend of genres, including indie pop, R&B, rock, and reggae. His husky voice and the use of looping hooks are distinctive elements of his sound. Following the success of "Nevermind," he released his debut EP "Exident" in 2019, which features the popular single "Never Go Back". The EP tells the story of his past relationship which was also the inspiration for "Nevermind". He has performed at major music festivals such as Coachella, Governor's Ball, and Montreux Jazz Festival. In July 2021, he released his debut album, "Some Days".

Recent Releases

Lloyd continues to release new music, with singles such as "Alien" (2020), "The Way" (2021), and "Berlin" (2022) being part of his more recent work. He has also collaborated with artists like Robin Schulz. After a brief hiatus, he moved to Portugal for new inspiration. His latest singles in 2023 include "Today, Tomorrow" and "Whatever It Takes".
