Biography
Damiano David, born on January 8, 1999, in Rome, Italy, is an Italian singer and songwriter. He is widely recognized as the frontman of the Italian rock band Måneskin. His parents, Daniele David and Rossella Scognamiglio, were both flight attendants, which allowed him and his older brother Jacopo to travel and experience various cultures from a young age. Before pursuing music, David was a promising basketball player.
Career
David's passion for music began early, and he started singing at the age of six. During his high school years, he met future bandmates Victoria De Angelis and Thomas Raggi. Although he attended the liceo linguistico Eugenio Montale in Rome, he did not graduate, choosing to focus on his music career with his parents' support. Initially, his style was considered "too pop" for the band, but he was eventually accepted as the vocalist.
Måneskin
The band Måneskin was formed in 2016 and began by busking on the streets of Rome. Their rise to prominence started in 2017 when they finished second in the eleventh season of the Italian talent show X Factor. This led to the release of their debut album, "Il ballo della vita," in 2018, followed by a successful tour. In 2021, Måneskin won the Sanremo Music Festival and subsequently the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Zitti e buoni," which brought them international fame.
Solo Career
In 2024, Damiano David embarked on a solo career, releasing singles such as "Silverlines" and "Born with a Broken Heart". His debut solo album, "Funny Little Fears," was announced for 2025. Despite his solo projects, he has assured fans that Måneskin is not disbanding.
Personal Life
Damiano David was in a long-term relationship with Italian model and influencer Giorgia Soleri, which ended in June 2023. In November 2023, he was reported to be in a relationship with American actress and singer Dove Cameron, making their first public appearance in February 2024. David is a vocal advocate for racial and LGBTQ+ rights. He is fluent in English and has some proficiency in Spanish and French.
