Cassö, born Cameron Cassels in Maidenhead, UK in 2002, is a DJ and music producer who skyrocketed to fame in 2023. He began producing music in late 2022 while he was a student, inspired by the UK rap and 90s House/Techno scenes. After only eight months of producing, his career took a dramatic turn.
Breakthrough with "Prada"
In May 2023, Cassö released an unofficial remix of D-Block Europe's "Ferrari Horses," featuring Raye, on his SoundCloud and TikTok. Retitled "Prada," the track went viral, gaining immense popularity on social media platforms. This success led to his signing with Ministry of Sound in July 2023. The official release of "Prada" became a global sensation, reaching the top 5 in charts across Europe, the UK, and Australia. The track was nominated for "Song of the Year" at the 2024 Brit Awards and has surpassed a billion streams.
Musical Style and Career Development
Cassö's musical style is characterized by a blend of dance, house, and techno. His debut was initially created for house parties he would DJ at while attending Swansea University. The viral success of "Prada" led to opportunities for official remixes for artists like Calvin Harris and Tate McRae, and a remix of "Prada" by David Guetta.
