Biography

Christophe Le Friant, known by his stage name Bob Sinclar, is a French record producer, DJ, and remixer born on May 10, 1969. He is the proprietor of the record label Yellow Productions. Sinclar began his career as a DJ in the 1980s under the moniker Chris the French Kiss, initially influenced by hip hop and jazz music. In 1998, he adopted the name Bob Sinclar, inspired by a character from the 1973 film Le Magnifique. He gained prominence for popularizing the "French touch" style of house music, characterized by its heavy use of sampled and filtered disco strings.

Career Highlights

Throughout the 2000s, several of Sinclar's tracks became international hits, particularly in Europe. His most popular songs include "The Beat Goes On" (2002), "Love Generation" (2005) featuring Gary "Nesta" Pine, and "World, Hold On (Children of the Sky)" (2006) featuring Steve Edwards. "Love Generation" was a global success, reaching number one in multiple countries. The follow-up, "World, Hold On," was also a major hit and was featured as an anthem for the 2006 football World Cup. In 2006, he also released the popular track "Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now)". He has released numerous studio albums, including Paradise (1998), Champs Elysées (2000), Western Dream (2006), and Disco Crash (2012).

Musical Style and Projects

Sinclar describes his musical style as being inspired by "peace, love, and house music". His sound often incorporates elements of funk, soul, and disco. In addition to his solo work, he initiated the Africanism project, a collective of artists creating house music with a blend of Latin, jazz, and African influences. This project showcased a more tribal and African-influenced house sound. Over his extensive career, Sinclar has produced official remixes for a wide range of artists, including Jamiroquai, Moby, Madonna, and Rihanna.

Later Career and Collaborations

In the 2010s, Bob Sinclar continued to be a prolific producer. He collaborated with Italian showgirl Raffaella Carrà on the song "Far l'amore" in 2011. Other notable releases from this period include "Summer Moonlight" (2013) and "Feel the Vibe" (2015) with Dawn Tallman. He has also worked with artists such as Akon on the track "'Til the Sun Rise Up" and The Sugarhill Gang for a remix of their classic "Rapper's Delight". In more recent years, he released "I Believe" in 2018 and collaborated with Molly Hammar on "We Could Be Dancing" in 2021.
