Betsy
Biography
Elizabeth "Betsy" Humfrey, known professionally as BETSY, is a Welsh singer and songwriter from Pembrokeshire, Wales. She was raised on a goose farm, an experience that starkly contrasts with her eventual career in high fashion and music. Her passion for music developed at a young age, influenced by the prevalence of singing in school, church, and local Eisteddfods, as well as her father and uncle's band.
From Fashion to Music
Despite her love for music, Betsy initially pursued a career in fashion at the encouragement of her parents. She enrolled in a womenswear course at Central Saint Martins in London and later landed a prestigious internship and job designing for the fashion house Balenciaga in Paris. However, feeling creatively unfulfilled, she left the fashion world to chase her musical aspirations. She returned to Wales and produced a demo in her brother's caravan, which eventually led to a management deal.
Musical Career
Betsy's music career began to take shape after signing with Warner Bros. Records worldwide and Columbia Records in the US and Canada. Her debut single, "Fair," was released in January 2016, followed by an EP of the same name. She gained further recognition with singles like "Lost & Found," "Wanted More," and "Little White Lies." Her self-titled debut album was released on September 29, 2017. Her sound is often described as pop and soul-pop. She has been featured on tracks by other artists, including Joe Goddard's "Endless Love" in 2014.
