Biography

Axel Christofer Hedfors, known professionally as Axwell, is a Swedish DJ, record producer, remixer, and record label owner. He was born on December 18, 1977, in Lund, Sweden. From a young age, Axwell showed a keen interest in music, learning to play the drums at the age of nine. By thirteen, he had developed a passion for electronic music and began creating his own compositions using a computer.

Career Beginnings

Axwell's career began in the late 1990s, producing music under various aliases, including Quazar. He gained recognition in the early 2000s for his remixes of tracks by prominent artists. His breakthrough as a solo artist came in 2004 with the release of "Feel the Vibe," which became a significant hit on European dance floors. The following year, a vocal version of the track, "Feel the Vibe ('Til the Morning Comes)," featuring Tara MacDonald, achieved commercial success, and he also launched his own record label, Axtone Records.

Swedish House Mafia

In 2007, Axwell, along with fellow Swedish DJs Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso, performed together in Ibiza under the name Swedish House Mafia. The group officially formed in late 2008 and quickly rose to international fame, becoming influential figures in the electronic dance music (EDM) scene. They released two compilation albums, "Until One" (2010) and "Until Now" (2012), which featured hit singles like "One (Your Name)" and the Grammy-nominated "Don't You Worry Child". After a farewell tour, the group disbanded in 2013 to focus on their solo careers.

Solo Work and Axwell Λ Ingrosso

As a solo artist, Axwell has received five Grammy nominations. Some of his notable solo works include the 2007 single "I Found U" and his remix of "In My Mind," which earned him a Grammy nomination. Following the split of Swedish House Mafia, Axwell formed the duo Axwell Λ Ingrosso with Sebastian Ingrosso. They released the successful album "More Than You Know" in 2017.
