Biography

Three Days Grace is a Canadian rock band formed in Norwood, Ontario, in 1997. The band's founding members were Adam Gontier (vocals, guitar), Neil Sanderson (drums), and Brad Walst (bass). Before adopting the name Three Days Grace, they existed as a five-piece band called Groundswell from 1992 to 1995.

Breakthrough and Mainstream Success

In 2003, the band recruited Barry Stock as their lead guitarist. That same year, they released their self-titled debut album, which featured the hit single "I Hate Everything About You". The album achieved significant commercial success, earning platinum certification in the United States. Their next album, "One-X," released in 2006, was inspired by lead singer Adam Gontier's struggles with addiction and was also a major success, eventually going triple-platinum in the U.S. "Life Starts Now," their third album, was released in 2009 and also achieved platinum status.

Lineup Change and a New Era

In 2013, lead singer Adam Gontier departed from the band, citing creative differences. He was replaced by Matt Walst, the brother of bassist Brad Walst and the lead singer of My Darkest Days. The first album with Matt Walst as the frontman was 2015's "Human." The band continued to release albums, including "Outsider" in 2018 and "Explosions" in 2022.

Gontier's Return

In a surprising turn of events, it was officially announced in October 2024 that Adam Gontier had rejoined Three Days Grace. The band will continue with both Gontier and Matt Walst as vocalists, making them a five-piece. The band has announced a new album titled "Alienation" set for release in 2025.
