Sam Barber is an American singer-songwriter from Frohna, Missouri, born on April 15, 2003. Raised on his family's farm, his early life was primarily focused on athletics rather than music. At the age of 16, he began teaching himself to play his great-grandfather's guitar and discovered a passion for music. Before his music career took off, Barber was enrolled in a civil engineering program at the State Technical College of Missouri.

Career Beginnings

In 2021, Barber started posting videos of his original songs and covers on social media platforms. He gained initial popularity with a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man." He also auditioned for the 20th season of American Idol, receiving a golden ticket to Hollywood, though his journey on the show was not aired.

Breakthrough with "Straight and Narrow"

Barber's breakthrough came with his single "Straight and Narrow," released on November 30, 2022. He had written the song when he was just 16 years old. The track gained significant momentum on TikTok in 2023, leading to mainstream recognition and his first entry on the U.S. music charts. The song has been certified platinum by the RIAA.

Barber's music is a blend of country, rock, folk, and alternative genres.
