Biography
Bryan David Castro Sosa, known professionally as Ryan Castro, is a Colombian singer and songwriter born on January 14, 1994, in Bello, Antioquia. Raised in the Pedregal neighborhood of Medellín, he showed an early aptitude for music, particularly in rap, freestyle, and dancehall. To support his family, a 17-year-old Castro began singing on buses after high school, which helped him hone his skills and gain confidence. He later traveled to Curaçao, performing in hotels and restaurants to fund his musical productions.
Musical Career
Castro's professional career began in 2017 with the release of his single "Morena". He gained further recognition after signing with Kevin Roldán's label, Kings Records. His breakthrough came with a series of successful singles, including "Lejanía" in 2020. In 2021, his songs "Mujeriego" and "Jordan" achieved international success, with both charting on the Billboard Global 200. The music video for "Jordan" has amassed over 400 million views on YouTube. Another significant collaboration was "Monastery" with fellow Colombian artist Feid.
His rise to stardom led to a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards with J Balvin and a distribution deal with Sony Music in 2022. That same year, he released his debut EP, "Reggaetonera," followed by a second EP, "Los Piratas." Castro is considered a leading figure in the new generation of Latin urban music. In April 2025, he signed a global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music.
