Biography

Austin Richard Post, known professionally as Post Malone, was born on July 4, 1995, in Syracuse, New York. He was raised by his father, Richard Post, and his stepmother, Jodie. His father's work as a DJ introduced Malone to a wide variety of music genres, including hip-hop, country, and rock. At the age of nine, his family moved to Grapevine, Texas, after his father became the manager of concessions for the Dallas Cowboys. Malone's interest in music began with playing the video game Guitar Hero, which led him to learn the guitar. He chose his stage name, Post Malone, around the age of 14 or 15 by putting his birth name into a rap name generator.

Malone's music career began to take shape after he moved to Los Angeles. He gained significant recognition in 2015 with the release of his debut single "White Iverson" on SoundCloud. The song quickly went viral, amassing over a million streams within a month and attracting the attention of record labels.
