Biography

Shahid Khan, known professionally as Naughty Boy, is an English DJ, record producer, songwriter, and musician. He was born in Watford, Hertfordshire, England, to parents of Pakistani origin. Khan dropped out of London Guildhall University, where he was studying Business and Marketing, and took on various part-time jobs to fund his musical ambitions. A turning point in his early career came when he won £44,000 on the game show 'Deal or No Deal', which enabled him to set up a recording studio in his parents' garden shed.

Music Career

Naughty Boy's breakthrough came in 2009 when he co-wrote and produced Chipmunk's "Diamond Rings," which featured a then-unknown Emeli Sandé. This marked the beginning of a successful partnership with Sandé. He produced her multi-platinum debut album, "Our Version of Events," released in 2012. In 2010, he had his own top-ten hit with "Never Be Your Woman," featuring Wiley and Sandé.

Hotel Cabana

In 2012, Naughty Boy signed a record deal with Virgin EMI Records and released his debut album, "Hotel Cabana," in 2013. The album was a commercial success, reaching number two on the UK Albums Chart. It featured the number-one single "La La La" with Sam Smith, which became a global hit. Other singles from the album include "Wonder" and "Lifted," both featuring Emeli Sandé. The album also included collaborations with artists like Ed Sheeran, Wiz Khalifa, and Tinie Tempah.

Further Success and Collaborations

Following the success of his debut album, Naughty Boy continued to work with a range of high-profile artists. In 2015, he released the top-ten single "Runnin' (Lose It All)," featuring Beyoncé and Arrow Benjamin. He has also produced music for artists such as Rihanna, Leona Lewis, Jennifer Hudson, and Cheryl Cole. Over the years, he has released several singles, including "One Chance to Dance" with Joe Jonas and "Undo" with Calum Scott and Shenseea.

Awards and Recognition

Naughty Boy's work has received numerous awards and nominations. His track "La La La" won Best Song and Best Video at the MOBO Awards in 2013. He has also been nominated for Brit Awards. In 2016, he was honored with the Outstanding Achievement in Music Award at The Asian Awards.
