Megan Ann Moroney, born on October 9, 1997, in Savannah, Georgia, is an American country singer and songwriter. Raised in a musical household in Douglasville, Georgia, she grew up surrounded by classic country, southern rock, and Americana influences. Her father and brother both play the guitar, and she began learning piano as a child. Moroney attended the University of Georgia, initially as an accounting major before switching to a degree in digital marketing and the music business.

Career Beginnings

During her freshman year at the University of Georgia, Moroney had the opportunity to open for a country artist at the Georgia Theatre, which prompted her to write her first original song. This experience sparked her love for storytelling. While in college, she interned for Kristian Bush of Sugarland. After graduating in 2020, she moved to Nashville to pursue music professionally. She released her debut single, "Wonder," in 2021, followed by her EP, "Pistol Made of Roses," in 2022.

Breakthrough and "Lucky"

Moroney's breakthrough came with the 2022 single "Tennessee Orange." The song gained significant traction online, leading to a record deal with Arista Nashville. It became her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Her debut full-length album, "Lucky," was released on May 5, 2023, and featured "Tennessee Orange" as well as the single "I'm Not Pretty." The album, produced by Kristian Bush, showcases her blend of country, folk, and southern rock. "Lucky" reached the top 40 of the Billboard 200 chart. A deluxe version with three additional tracks was released in September 2023.

In 2024, Moroney released her second album, "Am I Okay?", which debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard 200. Singles from this album include the title track and "No Caller ID." She also embarked on her headlining "The Lucky Tour" and supported Kenny Chesney on his "Sun Goes Down Tour." In November 2024, Moroney won the CMA Award for New Artist of the Year.
