Manuel Turizo Zapata, born on April 12, 2000, in Montería, Colombia, is a singer and songwriter. He grew up in a musical household; his father and older brother, Julián, are both musicians. Initially aspiring to be a veterinarian, Turizo's path shifted towards music after taking singing lessons with a Cuban teacher. He began making music at the age of 13, with his brother Julián often accompanying him on the ukulele, guitar, and vocal harmonies.

A remix of the song featuring Nicky Jam further boosted its popularity, receiving airplay throughout Latin America and the United States. The success of these early tracks led to him being named one of Billboard's "10 Latin Artists To Watch in 2018".
