Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, professionally known as Future, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer born on November 20, 1983, in Atlanta, Georgia. He is recognized for his mumble-style vocals and significant output, and is considered a pioneer in the use of Auto-Tuned melodies in trap music. Consequently, he is regarded as one of the most influential rappers of his generation.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Raised in Atlanta, Future was a member of the musical collective The Dungeon Family, where he was initially known as "Meathead". His cousin, Rico Wade, a member of the Dungeon Family, encouraged him to pursue a rap career to move away from street life. Between 2010 and 2011, Future released a series of mixtapes, including "1000," "Dirty Sprite," and "True Story". His regional popularity grew after DJ Esco played his songs at the Magic City strip club in Atlanta. In 2011, he signed a major-label deal with Epic Records and Rocko's A1 Recordings.

Rise to Fame and Musical Success

Future's debut album, "Pluto," was released in 2012 and achieved commercial success. His second album, "Honest" (2014), peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200. A string of successful releases followed, including the mixtapes "Monster" (2014), "Beast Mode" (2015), and "56 Nights" (2015). His third studio album, "DS2" (2015), and the collaborative mixtape with Drake, "What a Time to Be Alive" (2015), both debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.

In 2017, Future made history by becoming the first artist to have two albums, "Future" and "Hndrxx," debut at number one in consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200. He has continued to release a prolific amount of music, including studio albums and collaborative projects with artists like Young Thug, Juice Wrld, and Lil Uzi Vert. In 2021, he earned his first number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 with a guest appearance on Drake's "Way 2 Sexy". His 2022 album, "I Never Liked You," featured his first number-one single as a lead artist, "Wait for U," which also won a Grammy Award.
