Biography

Adam George Dyment, professionally known as Duke Dumont, is a British DJ, producer, and songwriter born in Harrow, London on August 27, 1981. He is recognized for his significant contributions to the house and dance-pop genres. Mentored in his early days by producer Switch, Dumont initially gained prominence by remixing tracks for popular artists such as Lily Allen, Bat for Lashes, and Mystery Jets. In 2007, he released his debut EP, "Regality," followed by "The Dominion Dubs EP" in 2008. A pivotal moment in his early career was mixing the "FabricLive.51" compilation in 2010. To focus on creating original music, he relocated from London to the countryside in 2011.

Breakthrough and Chart Success

Duke Dumont's breakthrough came in 2013 with the release of "Need U (100%)" featuring A*M*E, which soared to number one on the UK Singles Chart. This track earned him his first Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. He continued his chart domination with "I Got U" featuring Jax Jones, which also hit number one in the UK and secured another Grammy nomination in the same category. This single notably samples Whitney Houston's "My Love Is Your Love." Another successful single, "Won't Look Back," peaked at number two on the UK charts in 2014. His 2015 track, "Ocean Drive," from the EP "Blasé Boys Club Pt. 1," also achieved significant international success.

Blasé Boys Club

Dumont is the founder of the record label Blasé Boys Club, which also serves as an alias for some of his production work. The label has released several of his key EPs, including the "For Club Play Only" series, which showcases a deeper, more club-focused sound. The "Blasé Boys Club" EP series further established his signature style.

Debut Album and Recent Work

After a string of successful singles and EPs, Duke Dumont released his debut studio album, "Duality," on April 17, 2020. He described the album as an effort to create a body of work with emotional impact and longevity. Dumont continues to be an active force in the music industry, releasing new singles and performing at major festivals worldwide such as Coachella and Tomorrowland.
