Biography
Christopher Maurice Brown, born on May 5, 1989, in Tappahannock, Virginia, is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor. From a young age, he showed a passion for music and taught himself to sing and dance, citing Michael Jackson as a major inspiration. At age 13, he was discovered by a local production team, which led to him signing a record deal with Jive Records in 2004. In 2005, Brown moved to New York to pursue his music career, leaving high school before graduating.
Music Career
Chris Brown's self-titled debut album was released in November 2005 and was a commercial success, debuting at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. The album's lead single, "Run It!", reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making him the first male artist since 1995 to have his debut single top the chart. The album, which went on to be certified triple platinum, also included other hit singles like "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)" and "Say Goodbye". His debut album earned him two Grammy nominations, including for Best New Artist.
His second album, Exclusive, was released in 2007 and achieved even greater success, eventually being certified quadruple platinum in the U.S. It featured the number-one single "Kiss Kiss" and the popular tracks "With You" and "Forever".
