Biography

Tame Impala is the psychedelic music project of Australian multi-instrumentalist Kevin Parker. In the studio, Parker writes, records, performs, and produces all of the music. The project is known for its blend of psychedelic rock, pop, electronic, and R&B sounds.

Early Career and Formation

Kevin Parker, born in Sydney in 1986, grew up in Perth, Western Australia, where the Tame Impala project began. In 2007, Parker started posting his home-recorded tracks on Myspace, which garnered interest from several record labels. This led to a worldwide deal with Modular Recordings in July 2008. Before this, Parker had played in a number of local bands, including the Dee Dee Dums, which included Simper and drummer Luke Epstein. To translate his recordings to a live setting, Parker enlisted Simper and Watson to form the first live iteration of Tame Impala.
