Biography

Swedish House Mafia is a Swedish house music supergroup consisting of Axwell (Axel Christofer Hedfors), Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso. The trio officially formed in late 2008 and are celebrated for bringing progressive house music to the mainstream. Angello and Ingrosso were childhood friends, and they met Axwell in the mid-2000s. Before officially forming the group, they often performed together, sometimes with fellow Swedish DJ Eric Prydz, and became known informally as the Swedish House Mafia. Prydz, however, ultimately decided not to join the official group.

Rise to Global Stardom

The group's international breakthrough came with the release of "One" in 2010, followed by a vocal version featuring Pharrell Williams titled "One (Your Name)". This success was followed by the hit single "Miami 2 Ibiza" with Tinie Tempah. Both tracks were featured on their 2010 compilation album, "Until One," which was a collection of their own productions and remixes. The album performed well on the UK and US dance charts. They continued to release a string of successful singles including "Save the World," "Antidote" (a collaboration with Knife Party), and "Greyhound". Their most commercially successful single, "Don't You Worry Child," featuring vocals from John Martin, became a global hit and reached number one in several countries, including the UK, Australia, and Sweden.

Breakup and Hiatus

On June 24, 2012, Swedish House Mafia announced that they would be splitting up after one final tour. The "One Last Tour" concluded at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami on March 24, 2013. During the hiatus, the members pursued solo careers. Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso formed a duo called Axwell & Ingrosso, while Steve Angello focused on his solo work.

Reunion and "Paradise Again"

After a five-year break, Swedish House Mafia reunited for a surprise performance at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami in March 2018. This marked the beginning of their official comeback. In July 2021, they released their first new music in eight years, "It Gets Better," and announced they had signed with Republic Records. They followed this with more singles, including "Moth to a Flame" featuring The Weeknd. In April 2022, the group released their debut studio album, "Paradise Again". The album was supported by the "Paradise Again World Tour" and a co-headlining performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
