Biography

Rob Zombie, born Robert Bartleh Cummings on January 12, 1965, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, is an American singer, songwriter, filmmaker, and actor. He is known for his horror and sci-fi-themed music and films, which often feature a shock rock theatricality. Zombie has sold an estimated 15 million albums worldwide.

Music Career

White Zombie

In 1985, Zombie co-founded the band White Zombie in New York City with his then-girlfriend Sean Yseult. The band, named after the 1932 Bela Lugosi horror film, initially started as a noise rock group. After releasing several independent records, they signed with Geffen Records and achieved mainstream success with their albums "La Sexorcisto: Devil Music, Volume One" (1992) and "Astro-Creep: 2000 – Songs of Love, Destruction and Other Synthetic Delusions of the Electric Head" (1995). The band was known for their groove metal and industrial metal sound, with popular songs like "Thunder Kiss '65" and "More Human than Human". White Zombie disbanded in 1998.

Solo Career

Following the breakup of White Zombie, Rob Zombie launched a successful solo career. His debut solo album, "Hellbilly Deluxe: 13 Tales of Cadaverous Cavorting Inside the Spookshow International," was released in 1998 and sold over three million copies in the U.S. The album featured hit singles "Dragula" and "Living Dead Girl". He has since released several more solo albums, including "The Sinister Urge" (2001), "Educated Horses" (2006), and "The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy" (2021). His live shows are noted for their elaborate, horror-themed multimedia productions.

Film Career

Rob Zombie has also established a career as a filmmaker. He began by directing music videos for White Zombie and other bands. His directorial feature film debut was "House of 1000 Corpses," which was filmed in 2000 but not released until 2003. The film and its sequel, "The Devil's Rejects" (2005), have gained a cult following. He also directed the remake of "Halloween" (2007) and its sequel "Halloween II" (2009). Other films he has directed include "The Lords of Salem" (2012), "31" (2016), and "The Munsters" (2022).

Personal Life

Rob Zombie's younger brother, Michael Cummings, is the lead singer of the band Powerman 5000, under the stage name Spider One. In 2002, Zombie married actress and dancer Sheri Moon, who has appeared in many of his solo music videos and films. The couple lives in Los Angeles and on a farm in Connecticut. Zombie is a vegan and an advocate for animal rights.
