Biography

Jeremy Scott Zucker, born on March 3, 1996, in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, is an American singer, songwriter, and producer. Raised in a musically inclined household with two older brothers, he began making music in his bedroom during his time at Ramapo High School. It was also during high school that he joined a band called the "Foreshadows". After graduating, Zucker attended Colorado College, where he earned a degree in molecular biology in 2018. He began releasing music under his own name while he was a freshman.

Career Beginnings

In 2015, Zucker released his debut EP, Beach Island. He followed this with Breathe in 2016, which featured the track "'Bout It". His 2017 EP, Motions, included the song "Heavy," which was later remixed by blackbear. This led to a collaboration between the two on the single "Talk Is Overrated" from Zucker's EP Idle. In 2018, he released the EPs Stripped. and glisten, followed by summer, which contained his breakout single "comethru". The song was written about the feeling of graduating from college and moving back to his childhood home.

Rise to Prominence

Zucker's career gained significant momentum in 2019 with the release of "all the kids are depressed". That same year, he collaborated with Chelsea Cutler on the song "you were good to me," which became a lead single for their collaborative EP, brent. In 2020, Zucker released his debut full-length album, love is not dying, which was recorded in Brooklyn and featured singles like "always, i'll care," "not ur friend," and "julia". The album is an autobiographical collection of songs.

Recent Work and Collaborations

In 2021, Zucker and Cutler released a second collaborative EP, brent ii, which they promoted with a livestream show. This was followed by Zucker's second studio album, CRUSHER, later that year, which featured singles such as "18," "Honest," "Cry with You," and "Therapist". He has continued to release music, including the single "This time" in 2023 and a collaboration with Lauv and Alexander 23 titled "Cozy" in 2024. A third installment of his collaboration with Chelsea Cutler, brent iii, was released as a full-length album in late 2024.

Zucker's music is often described as a blend of indie-pop, alternative pop, and electronic music with introspective and relatable lyrics. He has cited a diverse range of artists as influences, including Blink-182, Jon Bellion, blackbear, Eden, Bon Iver, and Mac Miller.
