Biography

Harry Edward Styles was born on February 1, 1994, in Redditch, Worcestershire, England. He spent his early years in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, where he lived with his parents, Anne and Desmond, and his older sister, Gemma. After his parents divorced when he was seven, his mother raised him. During his time at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, he was the lead singer for the band White Eskimo, which won a local band competition.

The X Factor and One Direction

In 2010, at his mother's suggestion, Styles auditioned for the seventh series of the British music competition show The X Factor. After being eliminated as a solo contestant, he was brought back to form the boy band One Direction, alongside four other contestants: Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik. The group, which Styles named, finished in third place.

One Direction signed with Simon Cowell's Syco Records in 2011 and released their debut album "Up All Night" that same year. The band went on to achieve massive global success, releasing a total of five albums — "Up All Night" (2011), "Take Me Home" (2012), "Midnight Memories" (2013), "Four" (2014), and "Made in the A.M." (2015) — all of which were chart-toppers. They became one of the best-selling boy bands of all time before taking an indefinite hiatus in 2016.

Solo Music Career

Styles launched his solo career in 2017 with his self-titled debut album, released through his own Erskine Records and Columbia Records. The album debuted at number one in the UK and the US. The lead single, "Sign of the Times," topped the UK Singles Chart and won a Brit Award for British Video of the Year.

His second album, "Fine Line" (2019), also debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, setting a record for the biggest first-week sales by an English male artist. The album included the hit single "Watermelon Sugar," which earned him a Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance and a Brit Award for British Single of the Year. Other popular tracks from the album include "Adore You" and "Golden".

Styles' third album, "Harry's House" (2022), was a critical and commercial success, winning the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Its lead single, "As It Was," became a global number-one hit.

Fashion and Other Ventures

Styles is known for his distinctive and flamboyant fashion sense, often challenging gender norms. In 2020, he became the first man to appear solo on the cover of Vogue magazine. He is also a philanthropist, frequently advocating for various causes and promoting the message "Treat People with Kindness," which is also the title of a song on his album "Fine Line". In 2021, he launched his own brand called Pleasing, which offers beauty and apparel products.
