Anna Dasha Novotny, known professionally as Dasha, is an American country and pop singer-songwriter born on February 27, 2000, in San Luis Obispo, California. From a young age, she was involved in the arts, participating in musical theater at five years old and learning to play guitar and piano at eight. Her father booked her early gigs at local coffee shops and wineries when she was just ten. She released her first song at the age of 13.

Career Beginnings

Dasha attended Belmont University in Nashville but dropped out during the COVID-19 pandemic to pursue her music career. Initially, she created pop music and released her first single, "Don't Mean a Thing," in April 2020. This was followed by an EP titled "$hiny Things" in 2021 and her debut studio album, "Dirty Blonde," in 2023.

Transition to Country and Breakthrough

A significant shift in Dasha's career came with her transition to country music. This change in genre was accompanied by a full rebrand, embracing a country aesthetic. The move proved to be successful with the release of her single "Austin" in November 2023. The song became a viral sensation on TikTok, sparking a line-dancing trend. "Austin" entered the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 18. The track also achieved international success, charting in the top ten in countries like the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Netherlands. Following this success, she signed with Warner Records.
